The 25^th annual conference of Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA) was held from 12 to 14 February 2019 in Cairo (Egypt) and the officers of Ekaterinburg Non-Ferrous Metals Processing Plant JSC (EZOCM JSC, a company of PLAURUM international group) participated there.

The Conference of AFA is publicly known as the major event related to the fertilizers production industry. Its participants are over 400 professionals from the fertilizers-producing companies, licensors and suppliers of equipment and materials. During the conference the meeting was held where the issues crucial for the industry, such as the factors that have impact on fertilizers production; the review of supply and demand in the global market of fertilizers; application of fertilizers in Africa, etc. The platform of the event provides for an excellent opportunity to meet the principal stakeholders of the fertilizers market of the Arab region.

“During the conference the new contacts have been established and the negotiations with the major Egyptian mineral fertilizers manufacturers have been carried out, the prospects of further cooperation related to the supply of the catalytic systems manufactured by EZOCM JSC have been discussed. We have also received a lot of useful information regarding the current condition and prospects of the industry development in Egypt. All of the Egyptian nitric acid production factories are state-owned. Due to that the system of tenders for procurement of new gauzes made of customer-supplied metal have developed. Further negotiations with the prospective customers will be related to detailing of their needs,” said Alexander Bazhenov, Head of the Service and Technical Support Department of EZOCM JSC.

“There are three nitric acid and mineral fertilizers manufacturers in Egypt. The total volume of the nitric acid production is 3,800 tons a day. The prospective volume of catalytic systems made of precious metals supplies to the Egyptian market is 550 kg a year,” he added.

It should be noted that an active assistance in establishing contacts with the mineral fertilizers manufacturers has been provided from the Trade promotion office of Russia in Egypt.
