In 2018 Ekaterinburg Non-Ferrous Metals Processing Plant JSC (a company of PLAURUM international group) continues to develop new types of products for Russian and foreign manufacturers of cars, electronics and a number of other industries. Some products will be unique for Russia.

According to Dmitry Shulgin, the Head of Science and Technology Department of EZOCM JSC, the plant works on development of the technology for manufacturing wire and electrodes made of iridium (including single-crystal Ir) and its alloys, which are components of spark plugs in automotive and industrial combustion engines.

In addition, the plant is developing the technology for production of ultrafine thermocouple wire (up to 0.04 mm in section) of precious metals. Such wire is used for temperature measurements in metallurgical processes, reheating furnaces, etc. Also, for the first time in its 100-years history, EZOCM JSC has begun to develop the technologies of manufacturing of gold micron wire of 25 microns in diameter for electronics industry, in particular, for printed circuit boards manufacturers. This wire is considerably more reliable than copper wire with platinum coating (PCC) which is commonly used today in printed circuit boards’ production.

“We are planning to complete the research, development and industrial tests in 2018-2019, then we will start to offer the new products to Russian and foreign customers. Thanks to these and other new products we are planning to take leading positions at least in the domestic market and also to expand the presence in foreign markets. Such tasks are entirely consistent with the strategy of plant development for the next several years, which implies a significant increase in the finished high-technology products manufacturing,” said Alexander Andreev, General Director of EZOCM JSC.

Science and Technology Department is the new structural unit of EZOCM JSC established at the beginning of 2018. It is responsible for the development of plant production, ensuring manufacturing of new products, further development of the raw materials processing and R&D works.
